ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Guidelines for your artwork.

The fastest and easiest way to ensure your design or logo will look great on your custom branded promotion items is to provide your artwork as original Vector Art created in a program like Adobe Illustrator®, then save your file as an .EPS or .AI file with text converted to outlines.

Vector Graphics

A vector graphic uses math to draw shapes using points, lines and curves that can be scaled to any size without losing quality. Typically Adobe Illustrator is the preferred program for creating and editing Fonts and Logos. Popular vector file format extensions include: eps, ai and sometimes pdf.

Raster Graphics

A raster graphic is an image made of hundreds or thousands of tiny squares of color information, referred to as either pixels or dots. The most common type of raster graphic is a photograph. The preferred program for creating and editing raster files is Adobe Photoshop. Popular raster file format extensions include: jpg/jpeg, psd, png, tiff, bmp and gif.

Helpful tips for submitting your artwork and preparing your files.

- Artwork Guidelines
  • Rework or touch-up will incur an extra charge.

We will contact distributor for approval before any touchup work is started. If re-work touch-up is needed, order may be delayed.

  • Friendly Reminder:

Clear, ready-to-use black and white artwork accelerate orders and gives best results.

  • Half tones, screen pattern, shading:

Such logos are not recommended for deboss, laser or silk imprint process, but we will attempt to reproduce and will advise accordingly.

  • DIGITAL ARTWORK:

Artwork may be supplied from a PC PLATFORM on a CD or a file sent to us saved as per specifications outlined herein:

    • Absolutely no color or grayscale files. (Except for CMYK imprint process)
    • Preferably, artwork files should be supplied in vector format, created with either CorelDraw (up to version 17) or Illustrator (up to version CS2021). All files must be saved in IBM format.
    • At Spector & Co., we have a large selection of fonts. However, all type must be converted to curves (in the event that we do not have the specific font used in your document). Failing to do so may result in your order being delayed.
    • We require that all fonts be no less that 5 pts in size. Please be advised that script fonts read best in upper and lower case. All lines width should be no less than 0.3 pts in thickness.
    • For best results, Photoshop EPS, TIFF and JPG files should be set for black and white 1 bit preview at 1200 dpi.
    • Photoshop EPS, TIFF and JPG files should be no less than 200% of final required imprint size and 600 dpi.
If artwork is sent at 100% of imprint size, then 1200 dpi actual resolution should be supplied.
    • Use appropriate file extension with name indicating file type.
    • Each file should have one artwork only. Use the P.O. number for the file name.
    • Please be advised that WE DO NOT ACCEPT artwork that is sent in any word publishing documents such as Microsoft PhotoDraw, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Freehand, PageMaker or Adobe Image Ready.
    • When e-mailing artwork to art@spectorandco.ca, please reference company name and P.O. number.
    • Please Note: Art is kept on file for 2 years.
